1st Lecture (in-person and online)
Theme: "Is Gluten Really the Enemy and How Can You Tell?"

Speaker - Allison Prebble:
Allison is an experienced kinesiologist and educator with many years of clinical practice supporting clients with complex physical and emotional health concerns.
She specialises in integrative approaches that combine muscle testing with nutritional, structural and energetic techniques.
Allison is widely respected for her clear, practical teaching style and her ability to translate complex concepts into accessible clinical tools.
She has lectured extensively to professional audiences across the UK and beyond.
We are delighted to welcome her to the British Reflexology Association AGM to share her expertise and insights with our members.

Lecture:
Gluten has become one of the most debated topics in modern nutrition — blamed for everything from digestive discomfort to fatigue, brain fog and chronic inflammation. But is gluten truly the culprit, or are we sometimes overlooking deeper underlying imbalances?
In this thought-provoking lecture, Allison Prebble will explore the science, myths and clinical realities surrounding gluten sensitivity. She will examine how to distinguish between coeliac disease, non-coeliac gluten sensitivity and broader digestive dysfunction — and most importantly, how practitioners can recognise the signs in clinic.
Drawing on her extensive experience in kinesiology and integrative health, Allison will share practical insights into assessment strategies, hidden triggers, and the role of gut health, immune response and systemic stress in symptom presentation.
If you have clients who struggle with unexplained symptoms, elimination diets, or conflicting nutritional advice, this session will offer clarity, nuance and clinically relevant tools you can take straight back into practice.
Join us for what promises to be an engaging and illuminating exploration of one of today’s most controversial nutritional questions.

2nd Lecture (in-person and online)
Theme: "The Secrets Your Tongue Could Tell -
An Introduction to Tongue Diagnosis in Traditional Chinese Medicine"
Speaker - Philippe Mathon:
After years in the corporate world, Philippe Mathon decided to qualify with the British Reflexology Association in 2000 and in acupuncture in 2002 (MBAcC). His practice is in Fulham. He is also a qualified hypnotherapist (MNCH (Reg.)) and a yoga teacher.
Philippe has been involved with the BRA board on and off since about 2005: he was treasurer and Lecture Day Co-Ordinator for about 6 years. He came back on the board in 2019 and is currently the Association’s treasurer and office administrator.

Lecture:
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the tongue is considered a powerful diagnostic map reflecting the internal state of the body.
By observing its colour, shape, coating and moisture, practitioners gain insight into the balance of Qi, Blood, Yin and Yang.
The tongue body itself reveals information about organ systems such as the Spleen, Heart, Liver, Lungs and Kidneys.
Changes in colour — pale, red, purple or bluish — may indicate patterns such as deficiency, heat, or stagnation.
The thickness and quality of the coating can reflect the condition of the digestive system and the presence of dampness or pathogenic factors.
Cracks, teeth marks, swelling or a thin body all provide additional clues about underlying imbalances.
Moisture levels help assess fluid metabolism and the state of Yin.
Different areas of the tongue correspond to specific organs, allowing for more focused interpretation.
Importantly, tongue diagnosis is always considered alongside pulse reading and the full clinical picture.
In this lecture, we will explore the very basics of this fascinating — yet complex — ancient art, offering a clear and practical introduction to tongue diagnosis.
